A look back….

Emma and Barney’s Wedding


The band performed at the wedding of Emma Holgate and Barney Warner. This was held at Lingfield Park Hotel near East Grinstead. The day was wonderful and well attended by both family and friends.

The happy couple had both a DJ and JL Dance and Swing perform for the evening’s entertainment, sharing the time for all guests to enjoy on the dance floor.
The band gave a fantastic performance, playing different styles of music from the Swing era, through to Earth, Wind & Fire plus much more… and were well received by all.

Live Big Band Evening at the Mulberry Pub


The band played at the Mulberry pub on 19th December, in a charity event to raise money for a little girl in need of a specialised wheel chair.

The evening was a great success and the evening raised £850 in total.
The pub was packed and a great time was had by all throughout, with much singing and dancing. The band should be appearing at the Mulberry again later in the year.

Worthing’s Lido


JL played at the Worthing Lido in August, and entertained the passing crowds as they gathered on the sea front during the hot Saturday. The Lido was packed and a good time was had by all. THe band entertained for 2 hours, playing a selection of swing, rock, pop and much more. THe band were also joined by some younger players who had previously joined JL for their annual summer workshop…..A big thanks goes to them. Catherine and Luke’s Wedding


JL performed at the wedding of Catherine and Luke, giving a full evening’s entertainment for the guests in Horsham.
A lovely evening for all, set in a beautiful location in rural Sussex.
The band gave performances from many different genres, from Swing, Jazz, Rock, Pop and much more…there was something for everyone!
Well received by all who were there.

Musical Extravaganza


JL Dance and Swing performed at the Worthing Assembly Halls with Buck’s Fizz’s Cheryl Baker and other bands around the county. The evening was a great success and sold every seat in the theatre. The band gave there version of MacArthur Park and Livin’ La Vida Loca, plus many more, and also accompanied Cheryl Baker in ‘For Your Eyes Only, and her iconic piece ‘Makin’ Your Mind Up’. This piece also starred her two daughters who sang along side her. She hosted the entire evening and the concert was a complete success.
The other bands featured were: The Davison Worthing Youth Concert Band, The Holy Trinity School Swing Band and The Sir Robert Woodard Academy.
Directors of the evening, James Lelean and Karen Kennard said…”It was an honour and a joy to work with Cheryl Baker and an amazing group of musicians. We hope to hold this event again in the future”.

    Sarah’s Wedding

The band were asked to play at Sarah Mitchells wedding on Saturday the 12th September. The band during the evening performed for the evenings entertainment.

The guests danced non-stop throughout the evening and enjoyed the music supplied by the band.

Sixth Form Prom


JL Dance and Swing performed at the Holy Trinity Sixth Form Prom, for the students. Playing a range of music and entertaining for the entire evening. As the beautiful cars arrived, the students walked the red carpet, in through the doors where they were greeted with Champagne and a wonderful atmosphere.

The band played a gentle programme in the first set, making background music as the students settled into the evening, followed by a lively disco set as the dancing progressed throughout the evening.

A great night for the band and the guests. One to remember
