Conductors

DWYCB has fantastic support from its Musical staff, they all give freely of their time (which is a considerable amount) and if you have been to any of our concerts you will know what a wonderful job they do.

Captain KarenKaren Kennard has been associated with the Band (in its various forms) for over 20 years, she first started as young band member and has now progressed to a young conductor!

Karen is a peripatetic teacher in the local area she plays many brass instruments, specialising in Trumpet and Cornet, and is also the deputy band master of the Worthing Salvation Army Band and Principal Trumpet of JL Dance and Swing. Besides her many musical talents, Karen is also gifted in decorating cakes.

James LeLean also has a long history with the Band (He and Karen were in the Band at the same time when they first joined a few(!) years ago).

James is Artistic Director of Music Performance at Sir Robert Woodard Academy. He also plays many instruments, his main instruments being his voice, the Organ and the Tuba, alongside Trombone, Piano, Bassoon and Flute. James is also the Musical Director of the ever growing JL Dance and Swing.
