CONCERT DATES!

 Sun 20^th Sept – Worthing Lido. (Not 13^th as previously advertised). Band Playing 12:00 – 1:30pm. Please arrive at 11:30am.

 Sat 12^th Dec – Christmas Concert

 Mon 14^th Dec – Davison School Carol Service

 Tues 22^nd Dec – Carols at Ferring Country Centre (small group)

 Fri 12^th March 2010 – RNLI Charity Concert, Littlehampton.

 Please let Alison know if you are unavailable for any concerts as the full band is required to obtain the best performance!

 BAND UNIFORM

The band is on show every time they perform and it is not just their music that is noticed but their presentation.

Please ensure you possess a red band shirt and a fleece. A £10 returnable deposit is now charged for fleeces due to the number of non- returns.

Make sure you are also wearing black trousers / skirt (no jeans), black shoes (no trainers) and black socks!

If you know someone who has left the band then please encourage them to return their uniform as this proves costly to band funds on a regular basis. The uniform remains the property of the band.

 BARN DANCE – SAT 26^TH SEPT

Tickets are priced at £5 and include a ploughmans supper. Please bring your own wine / soft drinks. Tickets must be bought by Tues 15^th Sept to allow catering numbers to be sorted. Each band member has been given a ticket to sell. More are available from Alison at band. Invite friends, family and neighbours for what will be the best evening you’ve had on £5 for ages!! All proceeds to the communal 2011 tour pot.

 TABLE SALE – SAT 14^TH NOV

Have you got stuff for a car boot but can’t face getting up at the crack of dawn? Then book a table for £5 and you can sell between the civilised hours of 10am – 12pm. Free entry to buyers. Tea & Coffee available. If you are able to bring a HOMEMADE cake to put on our band cake sale that would be great! You get to keep your profits, or why not hand it in to Paul and put it towards your individual tour pot for 2011. Book your table through Gillian Goodwin, who will be at band on Tuesdays.

FORMER BAND MEMBER

Sunday 29^th November – Hannah Bishop will be performing the Hummel Trumpet Concerto at the Assembly Hall with the Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra. Since leaving DWYCB, Hannah has studied with a number of professional trumpet players and is currently studying at The Royal Academy of Music, where she is the recipient of the Sir Elton John Scholarship. Tickets are available from the Worthing Theatre’s Box Office if you would like to attend.

FREE BAND FUNDS!!!!!

There are currently two ways of raising money for the band without putting your hand in your pocket!

The band makes a helpful sum from claiming gift aid each year.

If you haven’t signed a form and you are a UK tax payer then please see Alison. We are able to claim on donations you make, such as your termly £5 donation.

Register online at  easyfundraising.org.uk and each time you shop you will be raising money for the band. It makes no difference to your shopping and with Christmas looming, it’s a great time to check out the site.

REHEARSALS

Please make sure you at least put away your chair, music stand and music folder before leaving. Please keep regular attendance, particularly on the run up to concerts. If you can’t make a rehearsal then let one of the committee know.

KEEP UP TO DATE!

Do you find letters in pockets when they are weeks out of date – or do you not get them at all?! Register on the band website and all letters / information that is given out at rehearsals will automatically be emailed to you.

From this term, there will also be a notice board at rehearsals and it will keep you informed of recent letters / forthcoming concerts etc. Check it out each week and you won’t miss any info.

BAND PUBLICITY

We will be taking photographs of the band at our meetings and performances, These may be used in the local press. Please contact a committee member if you do not wish your child to be photographed.

Also please let us know if you do not agree to us making recordings of Band performances.
