Summer’s approaching

We are now heading towards the summer holidays and it’s time to take a little break. We have had to cancel some of the published events, so the next event will be the Parham concert in July. As you can see below, we are already planning a busy start to next Band year.

Waitrose

We have just received a cheque for £200 from Waitrose as a result of the “Community Matters” scheme it is running in its store. This was as a result of the token donations made to DWYCB in April so thank you!.

Parham House Concert

Sunday 12^th July – We are playing at an open day at Parham House. Please arrive at Parham at 1:00pm (In the Quadrangle), starting to play at 2:00pm. This was an excellent event last year. Free tickets will be available, details will be announced at rehearsal.

Start of year Barn Dance

Saturday 26^th September  We wil be holding a Barn Dance at St Andrews Scout Hut, Sackville Road starting at 7:30pm. Tickets will be £5 which will include a Ploughman’s supper. Please bring your own drinks for the evening.

Paul Archibald

Saturday 20^th September – Paul is a highly regarded professional Trumpet player, he he will be running a workshop master class at Boundstone College in the afternoon and will be performing in the evening. Please speak to Karen if you would like to be inolved.

Instruments

Please can we remind you all to take care of all instruments, they are expensive, need to be kept safe and stored properly to avoid damage! So we ask that you all take extra care when at band and attending concerts please.

Concert dress

This is essential, if not worn you won’t play!

Concert dress is our Band red tops. Please let Alison Pereux know if you would like to order one or if you have one you would like to “trade in”.

Black skirt or trousers, and black shoes complete the concert dress.

Gift Aid

If you haven’t signed a form and you are a UK tax payer then please do so (See Alison Pereux) as we make a helpful sum from this each year.

Fleeces & Shirts

Please remember fleeces and the new Band shirts are Band property. If you have a friend who has left, please encourage them to return them. A £10 deposit will now be charged for band fleeces.

Rehearsals

Please make sure you at least put away your chair, music stand and music folder before leaving.

Register at this web site to purchase goods from the web and use their search engine. Doing so will earn DWYCB money at the same time.  Anyone with any fundraising ideas please pass them onto Trevor Cordrey.

We are also looking for any parents who have contact with a company that may be able to sponsor the band in some way, again if you are able to help please contact Trevor via e-mail or speak to a committee member at band on a Monday.

Attendance

Please, please keep attendance regular, particularly on the run up to a concert. If possible let someone know if you can’t make it to Band.

Photographs and recording

We will be taking photographs of the band at our meetings and performances, please contact a committee member if you do not wish your child to be photographed.

Also please let us know if you do not agree to us making recordings of Band performances.
